[From Heimtstelle Pfalz (from newspaper "Der Deutsche Pionier"): Franz OHMER, born 19.6.1796 in Musbach/Alsace, emigrated with wife and five children, arrived in New York on January 8, 1832.] Continued by river and Erie Canal to Buffalo, by steamer to Sandusky, OH and by wagon to southern Ohio. Worked as a tailor in Trenton, Butler County. Ohio 1833/37. In 1837 he moved to Dayton where he established a confectionary and later a hotel/resturant. At his marriage in 1822, the witnesses were his godfather, François Malgra, age 56; her uncle, Laurent Floquet, a soldier age 50; Jean Philippe Etienne, a smith age 62.
