<metadataxml><content><line><p><span style="font-size: small;">DEATHS ---BEADLE </span><br><br><span style="font-size: small;">Funeral services were held for <strong>Alva Joseph Beadle</strong> from Chauvin&rsquo;s Funeral home to St. Andrew&rsquo;s Catholic Church in Bayou Bouef September 3 at 10:30 A.M. The Reverend Adrian Callouet, assistant pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Morgan City, officiated. A special Requiem High Mass was celebrated after the funeral. </span><br><br><span style="font-size: small;">Mr. Beadle&rsquo;s parents, the late <strong>Elber Jefferson Beadle</strong> and <strong>Louise Geneva</strong>, were one of the first families to settle on Bayou Boeuf. <strong>Eber Beadle</strong> had the first commissary back when merchandise was brought in by boat. <strong>Alva Beadle</strong> was born in what is now Amelia. Most of his life was spent there although he lived for short times in Reserve and Houma. The deceased was Constable of St. Mary Parish for sixteen yrs. He served on the Grand Jury and on Petite Juries. Although he was a wheel-right and blacksmith by trade, he also was a carpenter and boat-builder. </span><br><br><span style="font-size: small;">Beadle died at the age of 93 on Sept. 2 at 7:45 a.m. His wife was the late <strong>Urma Virginia Daigle</strong> of Bayou Boeuf. He is survived by three sons: <strong>Lehmen</strong> of Delcambre, <strong>Frank</strong> of Reserve, and <strong>Eugene</strong> of Amelia; Five Daughters, <strong>Mrs. Wm. Whitney</strong> and<strong> Mrs. David Olivier</strong> of Houma, <strong>Mrs. Milton Rogers</strong> and <strong>Mrs. Sidney Meyard</strong> of New Orleans, and <strong>Mrs. Webster Clement</strong> of Lake Charles. </span><br><br><span style="font-size: small;">Two other sons preceded him in death.<strong> Mitchel Daniel</strong> died in military service Nov 17, 1917 and <strong>Garret John</strong> drowned in the Atchafalaya River at Morgan City Dec. 3, 1953. He is also survived by fifty grandchildren.</span></p></line></content></metadataxml>
