Mr. August Aucoin, 91, a resident of Gibson, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, surrounded by his loving family.

August was born on August 30, 1925, in Bayou Chene, the son of John Webster Aucoin and Eveline Lacoste.

August was a faithful member of Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years. His sense of humor was always evident, especially doing what he loved the most, spending time with his family. He also treasured his time in the outdoors, fishing, crabbing, crawfishing, alligator hunting, shrimping, and hunting deer and wild hogs.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Ruby Deslatte Aucoin of Gibson; five children, Christine Bourgeois and husband Joseph Michael of Berwick, Judy Alfred and husband Kenny of Bayou Vista, Eric Anthony Aucoin and wife Bonnie of DeQuincy, Kerry James Aucoin and wife Diane of Donner, Iris LeBlanc and husband Jerry Jr. of Gibson; 11 grandchildren, Dawn Bernard, Kenneth J. Alfred, Michele Alfred, Jacob Alfred and wife Tiffany, Jason Aucoin, Jordan Aucoin, Jonathan Aucoin and wife Julie, Lacey Gautreaux and husband Jamie, Alicia Vasquez, Trey LeBlDanc and Adam LeBlanc; two step grandchildren, Kelly Bourgeois and Barrett Bourgeois; eleven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren. August is also survived by one brother, Eugene Aucoin; one sister, Sylvania Verrett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

August was preceded in death by his parents, John Webster and Eveline LaCoste Aucoin; two brothers, Albert Aucoin and Cyrill Aucoin; and one sister, Era Mayfield.

Funeral services for Mr. August will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016, at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. John Locascio officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Following the service Mr. August will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with Military Honors being rendered by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
