A 1923 Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Wabash College. Graduated McCormick Theological Seminary. Graduate study at University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Honorary Doctor of Divinity, Alfred University, 1940. Much of his ministry was in scholastic settings in Oregon, Ohio, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Found Dead at home of cardiac arythemia from artherecloric heart disease.
