Catholic. He appears on Speyer birth page 333 as #129. He is said to have left home at family request when he was 17 years of age. He was given money and proceeded to Hamburg with the intention of migrating to the United States. He was robbed in Hamburg. Since he could not return to Herxheim, he returned south to Doxlanden where he settled and raised a family. He does appear on the Speyer marriage charts on page 146. A Certified civil document dated 18 August 1939 shows him as patchworker or piece worker (Stückwerker). On 27 April 1939 Pastor Link certified his christening as 23 Oktober 1857. |
