Note	Catholic. Jacob was an orphan when he migrated to the United States in 1884. He was raised as if he were a tenth child of his uncle Theodor who sponsored him for citizenship on 13 Nov 1890 at age 21. The OHMER marriage chart, page 143, for Herxheim shows no progeny for Franz. Jacob is not recorded among the 1869 births in Herxheim. The entry for the second marriage shows Katherine as the daughter of Johannes HEINRICH from Hernenberg and possibly living in Arzheim. The 1900 United States census shows him as married to Mathilda for two years and with one child, Joselina, age one. Marriage license #7178 in Vol. 10 shows him as age 29. The wedding was by M. J. Decker, Minister of the Gospel. Matilda, at age 20 was married with the consent of her guardian, Henry L. Reathet.
