Note

Janet Ohmer, 89, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday February 6, 2024. She was born July 12, 1934 a daughter to the late Ralph and Lillian (Hazen) McCall.
Janet grew up in North Girard, attending Rice Avenue Union High School. She soon married and began a family; she was a wonderful mother and adored her children as well as the many others that found their way into her home. Following her children's enrollment in school, Janet transitioned to the workforce. Notably, she became a familiar face at Valu King Drug Store, where her warm greetings and assistance to the pharmacist was admired by customers. Janet then moved from there to work as a transport aide at the Gertrude Barber Center, from which she eventually retired.
She was a family woman; whether the occasion was a Christmas celebration where each grandchild held a special place, or shared crafting sessions, the gathering of her loved ones were moments she most cherished. In years past, Janet and her family embarked on annual camping expeditions to the North Shore Boat Club in Pymatuning, creating warm memories. Her dedication to her family was evident throughout her life, as she poured her energy into their lives. Amidst the quiet hours at home, Janet loved reading and expressed her creativity through crocheting; countless afghan blankets adorned with her handiwork became cherished heirlooms among family and friends over the years. Additionally, Janet was a dedicated member of the Girard American Legion Auxiliary, actively participating in community endeavors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore J. Ohmer Jr. whom she married on November 13, 1950. Also preceding was a son, Timothy Ohmer; sister, Betty Grimshaw; and brothers, Emerson, Wallace, Donald, and Darryl McCall.
She will be greatly missed by her family which includes daughters, Linda J. Greene (Michael), Susan M. Phillips (Ron), and Nancy L. Payne (Frank); sons, Steven R. Ohmer and Theodore J. Ohmer III; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
